Inhale Faith. Exhale Love.

Core Compassion Project began with one of Jill Hinson’s clients who is now her dear friend. Jill, owner of Core Studio Pilates & Yoga, met Sarah when she booked her first appointment after her breast cancer diagnosis. Jill knew she needed specialized training to work with Sarah but did not understand the significant impact surgeries could have on a female body recovering from breast cancer. She was not sure how to modify Pilates for Sarah’s battle until she hosted the Pink Ribbon Program training at her studio and became certified to help breast cancer survivors through Pilates.

Soon after her Pink Ribbon Program training she learned her very first client, Leslie, was diagnosed with breast cancer. She couldn’t believe it.

In December 2012, Jill began Core Compassion Project by registering it as a non-profit. In February 2013, Jill’s mother was diagnosed with colon cancer. Her mother’s battle drove Jill to make Compassion Project happen!

Jill began research and quickly learned that many women cannot afford Pilates due to medical bills, and sadly, some women do not receive physical therapy. Jill is not a physical therapist, but she strongly believes in the power of Pilates to help a survivor post-rehabilitation.

There is now a Founding Board working tirelessly to make this a reality. Core Compassion Project will offer scholarships to North Carolina residents with breast cancer at this time, but our vision is to reach those with other forms of cancer in the future.
